State Honors Foster Parents for Exemplary Service; Thirteen families recognized for transitional care of children
Thirteen Kentucky families from across the state were honored today for their service as foster parents to some of the state’s most vulnerable children. The Kentucky Cabinet for Health and Family Services (CHFS), the state agency that oversees the public foster care system, presented the awards at a Frankfort reception. Nine families from each of the Department for Community Based Services (DCBS) regions received an Excellence in Service Award for outstanding support of Kentucky’s families and children, and four families received a Longevity Award for 25 or more years of service.

Kentucky Historic Preservation Review Board today approves 15 sites for National Register listing; nominations now go to the National Park Service for final approval
Fifteen nominations to the National Register of Historic Places were approved today during a meeting of the Kentucky Historic Preservation Review Board at Metro Development Center in Louisville, including several modern sites in the Metro area, historic districts, schools, industrial buildings and Great Saltpetre Cave.

Attorney General's Office and BBB Partner with Cintas and Lowes to Offer Free Shred Day in Lexington
Attorney General Jack Conway, the Better Business Bureau (BBB) of Central and Eastern Kentucky, CINTAS Corporation and Lowes Home Improvement are teaming up to offer a free "Shred Day" for Lexington residents on Saturday, May 18, 2013 at Lowe's, 2300 Greg Lag Way in the Hamburg Pavilion from 9 a.m. to noon.

Campuses confer estimated 61,472 degrees, credentials in 2012-13
Officials at Kentucky’s public and independent colleges and universities estimate that they have conferred 61,472 degrees and credentials during the 2012-13 academic year, with historic levels continuing at the associate, baccalaureate, master’s and professional practice doctoral levels.
